Bio
Ben qualified as a Chartered Accountant with BDO, where he worked for 5 years, including a secondment to BDO Argentina, and held finance roles in the oil industry. As a result, he has covered financial modelling, management and reporting and process improvement and implementation for a variety of organisations.
Prior to On Purpose he worked on a day to day basis with social enterprises. He gained experience in social investment with Engaged X and assisted in setting up a public engagement and involvement enterprise and consultant for a social enterprise accelerator, in addition to volunteering for Finance Matters.
Ben has also consulted for a social enterprise accelerator programme, including modelling their investment fund.
Placement 1: Bonsucro
- Project managed review of the Bonsucro strategy
- Carried out a review of the entity’s funding model and built an excel financial model to test the assertions
- Co-developed Human Resources and Appraisal process
- Project managed the office move, including fit out and set up

Placement 2: RBS
- Project managed the production of RBS Social & Community Capital (RBS S&CC), RBS’s arms-length social finance intermediary charity’s, first impact report
- Devised and organised an early stage social enterprise workshop day, including delivery of a workshop
- Co-ordinated the creation of the first website, flyers, case studies and customer videos for RBS S&CC
- Reviewed loan applications from social enterprises and took to credit committee those deemed potentially investment read
